AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): Ayatollah Reza Ramezani, Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly and a member of the Assembly of Experts, in an interview, once again offered condolences on the martyrdom of the late leader of the Ummah, Grand Ayatollah Imam Khamenei, and congratulated the selection of the third leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran. “Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei is the best and most distinguished figure to assume the critical position of Velayat-e Faqih and leadership of the Islamic Ummah.”
The Secretary-General added, “In this context, the issue of heredity was raised, but what matters is that the necessary qualifications are best combined in an individual, even if that individual is the son of the martyred leader.”
Referring to such baseless doubts, he stated that if such speculations were to be taken seriously, then even the Prophet of Islam would not have introduced his son-in-law or cousin as his successor, an issue that some have attempted to present as a point of criticism.
Ramezani, noting the comprehensive qualities required for this position, emphasized, “Throughout history, there have been examples of deputies or representatives, and ultimately, the person who most fully meets the criteria must be selected, even if others may possess some of these qualifications.”
The Secretary-General further stated, “On the other hand, the martyred leader did not designate any specific individual for this position, neither his son nor anyone else. What emerged from the assessments was that Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei possesses the necessary qualifications for this important responsibility.”
